Mrs Sonia Lavadinho

Urban anthropologist and geographer, Sonia Lavadinho is a researcher at the Transport Centre of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (Switzerland) and founder of Bfluid, a firm specialised in research and foresight in sustainable mobility and territorial development. Her innovative approach to new ways of living, moving and investing in public spaces is inspired by the crossroads of urban anthropology, sociology and proxemics, a discipline that focuses on the relationship between people and their living spaces.

Sonia Lavadinho is also a recognised expert on physical activity in relation to health promotion and the prevention of sedentariness through the activation of public spaces, particularly those that call upon the dynamics of proximity. Her work on the Relational City and the City of the Outside demonstrates the interest of public policies reinforcing the place of the body in movement in urban public spaces and mixed development operations, aiming at a better health of the populations, a greater diversity of uses and more social and intergenerational cohesion.
